Hi Fellow EVOT’ers:
I wanted to report on a recent trip over to Sunriver (S21) to assess the potential there for a great annual training for Evolution pilots and owners. I was in Bend to get my pressurization controller re-installed after overhaul. (It works great!)
Sunriver is 17 NM southeast of KBDN, and somewhat less from the town of Bend. It is a nine square mile resort community, which is mostly a Hyatt resort. For golfers (not me) it is one of the top 100 courses in the US. The airfield is excellent – it has a 5460’ asphalt runway with vast parking and hangers. Jet A is somewhat cheaper that at KBDN.
The resort is absolutely first class. They are in the business of catering to meetings like ours. We will have better food and drinks than at any previous meeting. The airfield is a short bike ride from lodging, the lodging is a short walk from the meeting and eating spaces.
For flight training, we will be able to spend more time on training, and less on getting to the airport, or fighting our way through clouds of helicopter and fixed wing trainers.
Obviously, a great venue doesn’t, by itself, make for a great meeting, but it sure helps. I will keep working with Advanced Aviation and Elite Pilots to ensure that we get the best experts and not commission salesmen.
See you in September! Fly safe!!

Hi EVOT'ers:
Below (if I get it right) is a connection to the schedule for the September 27-October 1 Evolution Fly-in at Sunriver, OR. It is all Evolution, with lots of EVO-trained instructors and lots of ground school. Sunriver is a terrific place and I only worry that the set up is so great, that we may have some trouble getting everybody into class!
I said it is all Evolution, but that's not quite right. I'll be talking after one dinner about flying low level reconnaissance over North Vietnam in a F-8, back when I was young and foolish. But it won't be boring, I promise, and there will be lots of "refreshments" available. Ex-Marines in the room may out-rank me, but they weren't there, and Air Force, well they were up at 70,000' in their SR-71's and it wasn't near as much fun.
Reportedly, we will have 20 Evolutions there and 27 pilots. The biggest Evolution meeting yet! And the weather will be perfect, I hope.
Best, Frank Blair

This sounds great. Is there any thought toward something similar for the other aircraft in the fleet?

The LOBO Landing in Asheville in October will include a refresher ground school as has been the practice for several years. This year, we've arranged the schedule to allow attendees to separately/privately schedule flight training in the afternoons if desired. Most of the LOBO-endorsed instructors are planning to attend/present at the forums, so you'll need to talk to your instructor directly to schedule.
Looking forward to seeing you there!!

I wish I could be there, but will be on a long delayed trip overseas during that time, which is probably just as good as my FCU failed last week and needs to be sent in for overhaul. I have been told the wait time on overhaul kits is several months. Bummer.

Dear EVOT'ers: I hope everyone has seen how great the weather forecast is for Sunriver next week. Sunny and in the 70's. It will be hard to keep everyone in the seminars, but flying will be great.
See you there!
