There are quite a few Lancairs flying with this ELT and if you have negative information on this ELT, I'm sure they would ALL like to know about it. When I first installed it, it would activate when I transmitted on certain frequencies. I sent it in to ACK and they updated it. Since I reinstalled, it has activated when transmitting once or twice. I like the ACK and may use it in my Lancair IV but I will Talk to ACK before I buy it to see if this is still a problem. In the test flight phase, triggering the com at certain frequencies did indeed set off the ELT. Investigation revealed that the ELT antenna was mounted too close to the com antenna in the tail (within two feet). I moved the ELT antenna forward (just inside and forward of the aft compartment access panel) and have had no problems since. If you send it back to ACK they will add a resistor and a choke to the remote control box cable for little or no cost. The obvious fix is to merely route the ELT remote control line on the opposite side of the fuselage from the com antenna wires. It works fine in many installations (mine!) I'm aware of so send that other (EXPENSIVE) thing back !
