Hello
All,

I
have a client with an ES that is experiencing an EGT temp spike on cylinders 4
and 5 on final. A while back there was a brief discussion on what causes this
phenomenon, but I have not been able to find the thread again. Could someone let
me know what causes this and what should be done to prevent it? Otherwise the
plane flies great and temps are normal in all flight modes.

Thanks,

Shane

Shane,
I think we need more information:  How high did the temps go?  what were the other temps when the "spike" occurred?  What was the rpm and manifold pressure at the time?  Can the condition be duplicated by duplicating the condition at a different altitude?  Did the spike occur simultaneously on both cylinders?  I suspect that one spark plug in each of the two cylinders stops firing, perhaps because the mixture is excessively rich (but possibly lean) under that condition.
