Dear Ken:

I read with interest your post on the business of getting a 200hp engine

into the stock cowl.  I have an IO360 A1B6D which came out of a Mooney

M20J.  I had it rebuilt by Victor Aviation and will install it in my

Lancair 360 when I get it built.

According to the dimensions given by Lycoming the IO 360B as recommended by

Lancair measures 24.84 (H) x 33.27(W) x 29.81(L)  The IO 360A which I have

is        19.35      x 34.25         29.81

So I am an inch wider.  I do not know if mine are angled valves or not.

How can you tell?  It has been rebuilt to new standards and as far a I am

aware it has 8.7:1 pistons.

Do you have any advice for me in getting this engine into the cowl?  I have

the longer engine mount and presumably the longer cowl.  I believe there is

a problem with the induction manifold to get it into the cowl.

Any help or advice you have would be really appreciated as apart from

"Marv's Marvellous Miscellania"  I am more or less on my own up here in

Canada.

I am copying this to the list in the  hope that there are other people who

have already done the same thing as you and might be able to help.

Regards

Ian Crowe
