It is a '91 Fast-Build, and based on what I was told it sounds like there's probably 10-15% of the airframe construction completed. (Fuselage currently inverted, main gear installed, gear doors cut out, etc.) The FB option in '91 included much of what today's FB does, and I believe the biggest differences are that none of the capstips were installed back then and that some of the fuselage work which is done today wasn't back then either. Additionally this kit pre-dates the MKII tail, so it has the original small one. This gentleman's dad passed away in May of this year, the kit was his baby, and now the estate would like to dispose of it. The project resides in the far south suburbs of Chicago and has always been in a heated garage. The pricing is negotiable, naturally, but he would like to get $22,500 for the kit and will credit any broken or damaged parts which must be replaced. Right off the top the canopy falls into that category, and I'm sure an additional allowance would be made for the replacement of all the epoxy and structural adhesive. There are also a few thousand dollars' worth of tools available which they will sell with the kit, pricing to be determined based on just what the buyer would like to pick up along with the kit. If there's anyone out there interested in pursuing this further, please contact me via private email (marvkaye [at] olsusa.com) and we can start down the path. <Marv> L320 kit for sale Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 12/02/1998 - 21:47 From: Rumburg, Williamby way of Marvin Kaye <marvkaye [at] olsusa.com> <wrumburg [at] cdicorp.com> Subject: RE: L320 kit for sale Date: Wed, 02 Dec 1998 16:47:46 -0500 To: <lancair.list [at] olsusa.com> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<--->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Lancair Builders' Mail List >> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<--->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >> Marv - I been reading all of the comments regarding compression of fiberfrax/SS when tightening the engine mounting bolts. The construction manual I used acknowledged this and noted that the fiberfrax could be relieved locally (by hand, using a 2" hole saw) in order to install two 7/16" area washers under the engine mount pads. The washers are exactly the right size and worked just fine! Why would anyone do it differently? The only valid comment modifying this approach was using a 2"circular piece of 1/4" phenolic in lieu of two washers...for weight savings. Any weight saving would be minimal and I'd personally feel better having steel washers there vs. phenolic. Well, HOW DO YOU LIKE MY EXCELLENT FORMATTING NOW!!! All I had to do was to type full lines and let the software auto-format. Send me your U.S. mail address and I'll send some nice photos of my plane and engine installation. Bill Rumburg >N403WR (Sonic Boom) [I guess I missed the comment in the manual about the area washers, but I like the phenolic idea, personally, also the idea of waiting until the entire firewall layout can be planned and then prep all the holes similarly as required. Your formatting looks great now, and my address is 209 Labelle Ave., Fort Myers, FL, 33905-2521. I'll upload whatever photos you send to the LML Attachments area... thanks for the offer. <M>]
