There was some discussion a while back about how hot the brake discs
get on the two place Lancairs. Here's proof. According to Steel
Temper Colors
, the straw color represents 460°, the purple
represents 540°, and the blue represents 570°. This is well over the
flame point of even the new synthetic brake fluid, so if your brake
hose melts, you'll not only lose control, but you'll have a fire.
