Our annual LOBO Landing is coming up in two months! Early registration ends a week from today, so please sign up soon. I have updated the information HERE about the Landing. We have a draft schedule if you would like to review it. Times of presentations may change a bit, and a few speakers are still being confirmed but this will give you an idea of what is offered. Your LOBO board is working hard to make an educational, informative and FUN event for all LOBO members, guests and enthusiasts of Lancair and EVO aircraft. You can view the tentative schedule for Thursday, Friday and Saturday below.

I have extended the early registration deadline to Monday, August 22. I hope you will take advantage of it! We have a great ground school curriculum planned, with some new topics! See the draft schedule I posted, but know that more forums are being added! Thanks for your support!

Please take a look at the Ground Instructor Biographies attached. Our program will be one of the most informative ever. The quality and experience of our speakers is incredible and we are very fortunate that they are ALL volunteering their time and attending at their own expense to educate our members on the best practices for flying and maintaining Lancair and Evolution aircraft. I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity and attend this year's Landing, There is a discount available until Monday, August 22. Please keep in mind that the conference fees are set to cover the cost of meals, AV services, transportation and partner activities, and do not fundraise for the organization. I am very excited about the content and quality offered at this meeting and hope you will attend. Please note that several of the LOBO-endorsed instructors providing ground presentations are available for flight training if you arrange it with them. Flight training is not a part of the LOBO meeting and must be arranged between the pilot and the instructor.

We are excited so many of you have registered for the Landing. You can still sign up: early registration closed but regular registration continues until September 9. You can register by clicking here. A few of our members who were holding hotel reservations but are no longer planning to attend canceled them, so there are a few rooms available in our block. You can reserve your rooms at this link: LOBO Rate for Hilton Biltmore Park. The process requires you to edit your reservation (look up at the top right when you get there) to get just the evenings you would like to book.
Tom and Beth Sullivan have secured a number of items for the silent auction. This year we are going to use the auction proceeds to do three things: Make this forum, LOBOLive, easier to use; Produce several videos of proper maintenance techniques; Support some local training events to increase the number of pilots getting good quality training. If you have items or experiences to donate, please email beth [at] uptruckcenter.com, or email me. We need items and experiences that would interest and be useful to Lancair and EVO pilots and their partners. Thank you in advance for your support of LOBO.

We are only five weeks away from our annual gathering!
Please visit THIS PAGE for details on the upcoming Landing. There you will find a description of events and activities, links to the hotel reservation page and a link to register for the Landing. I have added some new events, such as the Flygirls brunch at the Omni Grove Park Inn on Friday, October 7, and the Accessory Contest to be held at the airport BBQ on Thursday evening. We have also collected some wonderful items for the annual silent auction which does fundraise for LOBO. Included are: A three night stay at the Timberline Lodge at Copper Mountain, Colorado, a base paint scheme donated by Craig Barnett of Scheme Designers, a $1,000 gift certificate from AeroLEDs, a David Clark Headset, Tempest set of Massive spark plugs, LORD mounts, a four day engine class at Continental, and a custom Pratt and Whitney leather flight jacket. There are many more items coming in each day.
Regular registration ends on Monday, September 11. Thursday, September 14 the room block rate at the hotel expires and rooms will no longer be available at our rate of $199 per room per night. Cancellation is allowed until September 14 with a $25 per person admin fee to cover the cost of the refunds. After September 14, there are no refunds. You may do a late registration but understand the price is a bit higher and the hotel rooms will be more expensive. We hope you will join us for an educational three day conference and great camaraderie!

What a great LOBO Landing

What a great LOBO Landing this year. The seminars were informative. The guest speaker Gary Reeves was both instructive and entertaining. I did training with George Wehrung. He asked me during the flight if I was having fun. I said NO this is work, but so worthwhile. He is a great instructor.
Marty and I had a wonderful time visiting with friends. The tour of the Biltmore was fantastic. She said if we ever decided to downsize the Biltmore would be where she could live.
Great job LOBO Board of Directors. We are looking forward to more LOBO fly ins next year.

This was my second landing
Submitted by Limadelta on
This was my second landing after coming back to flying (after years off) and the first after finishing and flying my ES, including flying coast to coast in this beautiful, super efficient, bird to the landing. Lots of great information and training. Great job BOARD! So nice to meet people I followed for years on Marv's old mail list and who helped me in my adventure. Looking forward to many more landings.
Happy and safe flying,
Dan
