Forums:
The dates of the upcoming LOBO Landing are Wednesday, October 5 (evening welcome reception) through Sunday, October 9 (optional tour of the Biltmore estate). We plan to have ground school presentations, keynote presentations, member forums, and other topics of interest on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We plan to leave several hours each day open for those who want to arrange flight training with a LOBO endorsed instructor. We are working to get many of those instructors to commit to attending the meeting. So far we have confirmed that Matt Speare will do a session for the LOBO Flygirls, and a keynote speaker confirmed who will focus on instrument flying techniques and best practices. I am actively seeking speakers and topics for this meeting. If you have any ideas, please contact me or post them here. We have two sponsors who have already made verbal commitments to attend, Pratt and Whitney Canada, and Aerotronics. Garmin is working to sponsor and will at least send a representative. I am in contact with many of our partner businesses to see how we can offer our members up to date information about products and services relevant to Lancair and EVO owners and builders.
Asheville is a great place to visit anytime, but the fall is spectacular. There are lots of visitors at this time of year, so please don't hesitate to make your hotel reservation now; you can change or cancel without penalty almost up to the meeting date. The block will fill soon; if we wait too long to expand it, rooms will not be available at the great rate of $199 a night at the Hilton Biltmore Park. Here is the link to make a reservation:

Participation

I have reserved time off with my employer and my wife Kristin who also reserved time off from her practice as a physician will also be able to attend. I am not sure how or what you need for participation from me this year but I will do my best to help out as time allows from my work. I can speak on anything, teach anything, etc. I can also speak about flying overseas as a contractor pilot helping to find IEDs and supporting ground troops. I did that for 10 years after I retired from 26 years in the Navy. My current professional job is being the Chief Pilot for LifeStyle Aviation, and selling Diamond Aircraft, which have the Garmin G1000 NXi, so I know the G1000 stuff pretty well as I am always delivering new planes and giving instruction.
I do have a LODA for myself and our airplane (N410KG ES). I am not overly excited about giving flight instruction at the LOBO Landing, but if there were a lot of demand I could do it. I need to get re-current in the IV and the EVO before I give instruction in either of those planes.
LOBO Landing Topics

Thanks George! Great to hear from you and certainly I can add one or more of those topics to our agenda. We need eight hours of ground school content as well as general interest presentations. At our last Landing, we also offered type specific briefings and broke out the group. Flight instruction in conjunction with the Landing is something many of our members have requested. They have expressed an interest in recurrent training along with the ground material provided by the Landing agenda. LOBO does not arrange any flight training but hopes that the opportunity is there for those members who wish it. Our endorsed instructors can choose to offer this to their students or not. I certainly think the ins and outs of international flying would be of interest. I will get in touch with you and we can discuss options. Thanks again for offering to help!

I am very excited that our LOBO partners program will continue this fall at the LOBO Landing in Asheville. Matt Speare has generously agreed to teach the Partner In Command ground session. Matt did an outstanding job in Las Vegas, and we are very fortunate he will continue to assist this time! Stay tuned for more details on speakers and topics here. We do need more speakers so please reach out to me at s.gainza [at] lancairowners.com if you would like to speak or tell me which topics interest you.

Hi, Where do the events take place? At the Biltmore, or at the hotel? Thanks!

Hi David
Thank you for your interest. Most of the ground school briefings will be held at the Hilton Biltmore Park. We normally also do a few events, which might be more hands on maintenance clinics, out at the airport. I am still working on the agenda.
Here is a link to an article on this website that has a few more details. I update these as I go along, so please check back often! Thanks.
