The way I see it, mounting the pump assembly behind the aft baggage bulkhead on the passenger side would put the reservoir up against the fuselage wall, underneath the shoulder harness mounting point, making it all but impossible to get to. Where's the best place to mount these new-style hydraulic pumps? On the pilot's side (any interference with controls)? On the front of the aft baggage bulkhead? Any other ideas? I have lots of fiberglass burns and bruises on my forearms to prove it! In the "olden days", the pump was placed there for CG considerations. But if like me, you are heavier that 170 lbs., you will have to move some weight forward anyway, so why not the hydraulic pump? My friend mounted his on the *front* side of the baggage bulkhead, then built a nice little removable cover over the whole thing. It subtracts a little room from the baggage area, but what the heck, you can only carry 50 lbs. there anyway. It has not been a problem for him. I say just put the darn thing where you can get at it!
