Cowl Fasteners source needed

There is an alternative, but I don't think any Evo guys have utilized it yet. That is Carbinge and Carbinge Keepers. They are sections of carbon fiber piano hinges bonded to the upper and lower cowl halves. The pin has a threaded stud on the end so that the pin can be inserted and slid to place to securely join the cowl halves. The stud that has a recessed hex slot is then screwed into the female receiver that is bonded into the front of the cowl and you have increased strength of attachment, decreased weight, drag and workload in addition to eliminating the problem of replacing parts and risk of scratching the cowl when you operate the attachments with a tool.
The Evo cowl design makes that solution difficult to impossible to implement for the upper cowl. You might do it for the left and right side of the lower cowl but by then you only need a few fasteners. Had the carbinge on my IVP but could not do it on the Evo.

I have not seen the Evo cowl up close, Jeff, but i kind of assumed the propjet exhaust port might make Carbinge attachment seem impossible. I do have some IVPT and other propjet customers who have figured out how to use two pieces of Carbinge on each side. They start one at front of cowl and the other just aft of the exhaust port. It sounds like Evo design may be different? Does it have three pieces instead of two? I'd be interested in studying the design to see if we can come up with a way to use Carbinge and Carbinge Keepers.

Yes. I just received mine yesterday. WB Parts Express supplies the fastener. You need the CA1820-1 a 0.437" stud. They are $12.65 each.
